           In the heart of Bawburgh, Norfolk, we recently hosted an exciting public consultation event that invited local residents to engage with proposed plans for 35 new homes in their community. This wasn’t your typical consultation event—incorporating virtual reality (VR) to showcase the designs, we created an immersive experience that allowed attendees to truly explore and visualize the proposed development as if it were already standing.

           Our proposed development aims to introduce 35 new homes to Bawburgh, each designed to complement the area's rural charm while meeting modern housing needs. We prioritised energy efficiency, sustainability, and design cohesion to create a neighbourhood that feels both fresh and in harmony with the natural landscape and historical architecture of the village.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           The houses are envisioned to cater to a mix of residents, with various house sizes and layouts designed to accommodate families, young professionals, and older adults. Our goal was to ensure the design had something for everyone, reinforcing the sense of community and belonging that Bawburgh is known for.

           One of the unique aspects of our consultation was the use of virtual reality. Typically, public consultations present architectural drawings, maps, and digital renderings on display boards. While helpful, these can sometimes feel detached or difficult for residents to interpret in terms of scale and personal impact.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Using VR, we allowed attendees to walk virtually through the development, moving around the proposed homes, exploring outdoor spaces, and experiencing the layout of roads and walkways. This technology gave them a realistic feel of the space and how the new homes would blend into their surroundings.
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
&lt;div&gt;&#xD;

           With the consultation event completed and feedback collected, our team is now analysing the suggestions and considering adjustments to ensure the final proposal aligns with the needs of the Bawburgh community. We’ll also be exploring further VR engagements to help residents visualise updates and encourage continued participation.

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Our consultation event showcased the potential of VR as a tool for community planning and communication, and the enthusiastic response from Bawburgh residents affirms its value. We’re excited to take the next steps in creating a development that serves and celebrates this vibrant Norfolk village, and we’re grateful to everyone who participated and shared their valuable input.

           It’s been a rewarding experience collaborating with Crocus Homes and ESCO Developments Ltd to design this 50-unit scheme, featuring both bungalows and houses.

           We’re particularly excited about the inclusion of 17 affordable homes and the community benefits such as the trim trail, orchard, and improved footpath links. This project reflects our commitment to enhancing the local environment and community connectivity.

      <title>The Next Phase!: Threescore Development, Norwich</title>

           We recently held a Public Consultation event for Lion Homes to showcase the upcoming development proposal at Threescore, Bowthorpe. This proposal is for the fourth phase of development and encompasses an area of approximately 2.85 hectares (7 acres) located to the south of the tree belt and east of Saxoncote Avenue. The topography of the land falls from north to south and results in significant level differences.
           &#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;/div&gt;&#xD;
&lt;div data-rss-type="text"&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            This new phase looks to build 88 homes which are zero carbon in use, including 30 affordable homes and a mixture of 1 bedroom flats and 2, 3 and 4 bedroom houses.
           &#xD;

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

           The design and layout will provide a strong built frontage onto Saxoncote Avenue with dual facing houses framing the entrance to the site. It is proposed to have a mix of two and three storey dwellings. The overall design for the site will have a contemporary feel with the orientation of buildings designed to benefit from solar gain and maximise energy conservation and efficiency.

            The proposed site layout has been carefully designed to work with the site topography and provides three level plateaus. Using the level plateaus throughout the site allows for the use of two and three storey split level properties to the road frontages eliminating large retaining structures.

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;

           The large tree belt to the north of the site will be retained fully as part of the development and various footpaths/cycleways in and out of the site will connect it to the neighbouring area.

           Concept design – Ensuring the proposed form respects the massing of the mill and avoiding it from being overshadowed. In this example, it is evident that the design aims to appreciate and protect the existing mill tower, ensuring that this holds the focus in the design whilst creating a beautiful family home. This challenging concept was overcome by respecting existing materials and the natural environment, through a light spacious design which responds to its existing context, giving the old Mill a new lease of life.

While taking into consideration the existing key features and constraints of the site, we’ve created a well-designed development which fits into the existing vernacular. We’ve reviewed the clients house type range and have created two styles to create two character areas, a modern and traditional style.

           This project is rather close to home for WTD as it is owned by our Director Will and has now become his future family home on the edge of the tranquil village of Ludham. Working closely with Will, the design team put forward the adjacent proposal which aims to appreciate and protect the existing mill tower, ensuring that this holds the focus in the design whilst creating a beautiful family home. This challenging concept was overcome by respecting existing materials and the natural environment, through a light spacious design which responds to its existing context.

           We are excited to announce the completion of our Bullard Road Project delivering much need affordable housing to the Catton Grove District.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Working on behalf of Norwich Regeneration Limited we undertook a comprehensive project management role to ensure the quick delivery of six affordable houses through the conversion of the former Catton Grove Area Housing Office.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Works began in late February 2019 with Wensum Construction taking ownership of the site and pushing forward with the build to showcase the high quality of finish which can be achieved in a short space of time when all of the stake holders involved are proactively moving forward towards the same goal.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            ﻿
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           In under 18 weeks the existing offices have been transformed into beautifully finished affordable homes ready for their new occupants.
           &#xD;

    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
